I started playing the chanter when I was about 8 but didn't
join the band until I was 10 (I think)
(2) What made you start?
If I'm be honest my mum 'actively encouraged' me to learn
as I didn't really want to learn the pipes. I stuck at it for her,
and glad I did.
(3) What are your greatest influences on life?
Girls, Drugs, & Rock & Roll? Nope, not for me. Music in
general would be very high up on the list, my better half
Laura, and other people inspire me alot. I'm a strong believer that you can learn from people and the stories they tell.
(4) What music do you listen to, other than piping music?
I love just about all genre of music. I like loads but snow patrol, killers, the script and proclaimers are favourites. I also enjoy BBC Radio One live lounge covers and acapella tracks. I have a wide taste of musical appreciation (sentence not taken at all from Chris's profile).
(5) Do you play any other musical instruments?
I certainly do. Keyboard is a favourite, when I get the chance. Drums - I'm forever beating on a table, car wheel or myself. In the past I've done a bit of singing, which is a musical instrument everyone has, and I'm known to regularly sing in the shower. Give me any instrument and I'll have a bash.
(6) Funniest time in your drumming / piping experiences was....?
To me everything is funny. I really can't think of a specific time, although a classic would be when Pipe Major Chris Phair played with the band in a competition however mimed all the way through cause his drone reed fell out.
(7) What is your most favourite possession?
Apart from the laptop, iPhone, Canon 550D with 70-200mm IS USM f.4 lens, Y19 DAS (for those that don't know, my car), the one most important thing I own in all seriousness is my hearing aids. See if a battery runs out........well that's just that!
(8) Do you have a best comedian or act?
To the question, no however I do like a few. Frankie Boyle, Mock the Week team, bit of Billy Connolly, Inbetweeners, Celeb Juice.
(9) What are you currently doing in life?
I'm a student nurse at the University of the West of Scotland, Dumfries, and hope to qualify in 2013. My ambition is to practice nursing in Australia for a bit and to return to then become a paramedic here in Scotland. Back to now, I'm also busy in the band as Pipe Sergeant and Info Services, and I do a design websites locally too.
(10) Finally, if you could have a super power, what would it be?
I think reading people's minds
I would like to say thank you to everyone in the band for their hard work and efforts throughout the times and to anyone who has ever supported the band in any way, no matter how small - it makes a big difference.
I don't think I've said it publically or even priviatly but
I'm really proud to be part of the pipe band
Daniel =)
